Joining well

Membership and Invite Codes

Most circles are entered through trust: a code, an invitation, or a thoughtful join request.

The default path is trust

Circles are not designed for anonymous scale. Most people join because a host shares a code directly or because the room is intentionally discoverable and open to requests.

That keeps membership closer to the people already inside the room.

Ways someone can join

Palmi supports a few different thresholds depending on the room.

  • Join with a code from someone already inside the room
  • Send a join request if the circle is discoverable
  • Be screened automatically only in cases where the room has opted into that path

Why Palmi keeps the threshold visible

A room feels safer when people understand how someone got in. Hosts can keep the invite path quiet and explicit, and members can see enough context to know how the room is being held.
